Inside the DJAx Awards Judging Process: Fair, Expert-Led, and Built for Integrity
The DJAx Awards celebrate the very best in job boards, digital job advertising, and talent acquisition. To honour that mission, our judging process is designed to be fair, rigorous, and rooted in genuine industry expertise. Every entry is assessed independently, consistently, and with the depth it deserves – ensuring that when a company wins, it truly earns it.
Who Are Our Judges?
Our judging panel is a carefully curated mix of returning judges – who provide continuity and calibration – and new judges, who bring fresh perspectives and challenge group thinking.
Judges are drawn from across the industry, including:
• seasoned job board leaders
• digital recruitment innovators
• media specialists
• industry analysts
• senior practitioners with hands-on experience
We bring together leaders whose expertise, objectivity, and reputation add meaningful weight to the process.
How the Judging Process Works
The DJAx Awards follow a two-stage evaluation approach, balancing independent scoring with collaborative decision-making to ensure fairness and confidence in the final outcomes.
Round One: Independent Evaluation
Every entry is reviewed by at least three judges, and in some categories, four.
Judges score independently, using a consistent set of criteria and a weighted scoring matrix.
Key fairness measures include:
• Judges do not assess categories where they have existing business relationships with entrants.
• Judges work independently to prevent influence or bias.
• Judges are aware of who else is judging their category, ensuring transparency and open communication.
Entries must meet a minimum benchmark score to be shortlisted.
This means shortlist sizes vary by category, but typically no more than six finalists will be named.
This stage ensures only the strongest, highest-quality submissions progress.
Final Round: Group Review, Debate & Calibration
Once the shortlist is confirmed, judges reconvene for a collective review session.
This meeting is where:
• Differences in scoring are discussed openly.
• Judges review the full scoring matrix to ensure consistency.
• Debate, calibration, and consensus help ensure the final choice is balanced and fair.
The winner in each category is chosen when the judging panel reaches a confident agreement, backed by both independent scoring and group-level scrutiny.
Why Our Process Matters
The DJAx Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the highest achievements in job board and digital job advertising. A process based on:
• independent expertise
• transparent criteria
• consistent scoring
• conflict-free evaluation
• and collective final review
This ensures that the winners reflect true excellence – not popularity, politics, or loudest voice.
Our approach means every organisation, whether a niche job board or a large-scale platform, has an equal opportunity to shine.
