Job Board Doctor Survey results cover image

The results of the 2026 Global Recruitment Site Platform Survey have now been released by Job Board Doctor, offering fresh insight into how recruitment site platforms are driving traffic, revenue, and resilience in today’s market.

This year’s edition introduces several updates designed to deliver more actionable intelligence for job boards and their partners.

What’s New in the 2026 Survey

Traffic Measured by Volume and Quality

For the first time, the survey measures traffic sources across two dimensions: volume and quality.

Understanding where candidates come from is only part of the picture. The more critical question is which channels deliver applicants who actually convert. The findings reveal notable gaps between traffic scale and traffic effectiveness — gaps that may represent untapped opportunity for many platforms.

New Product Revenue Rankings

The 2026 edition also introduces a new product revenue ranking, clearly outlining which monetization models are generating the most income across the industry.

Traditional duration-based postings continue to dominate — but the broader data highlights areas where revenue diversification may be underexplored.

A Standout Statistic

One data point in particular stands out:

48% of job boards derive 81–100% of their revenue from job advertising alone.

With hiring activity slowing — and potentially remaining under pressure — this level of revenue concentration presents risk. Platforms heavily reliant on a single income stream may face greater disruption during downturns.

The report outlines practical diversification approaches that do not require significant infrastructure changes, offering a roadmap for greater resilience.

Key Insights From the Data

Traffic Sources

Email job alerts and organic search remain core performance drivers:

  • 72% of respondents rate email job alerts as a high-quality source

  • 67% rate organic search as high quality

However, the survey also highlights a gap in adoption of paid search (SEM):

  • 28% of respondents are not using paid search

  • Of those who do use it, 45% rate it as high quality

This disparity suggests that some platforms may be overlooking a channel perceived as effective by nearly half of current users.

Product Revenue Performance

According to the new revenue ranking:

  • #1: Duration-based postings (1.83 average rank)

  • #2: Subscriptions (2.11 average rank)

Performance-based models such as pay-per-application and pay-per-hire continue to underperform expectations relative to broader industry discussion.

The Diversification Imperative

Direct sales remains the top revenue growth driver across respondents.

At the same time, partnerships with recruitment agencies and new product development are gaining momentum. The findings suggest that platforms investing in multiple sales streams are better positioned to navigate market slowdowns.
