UK Job Postings Down 8.2% in December
The REC reports that UK job postings fell 8.2% in December, dropping to 573,597 new listings as hiring activity slowed with the seasonal festive lull.
The dip reflects typical year-end patterns, with employers pulling back on recruitment ahead of the holidays. While demand eased, the broader labour market still faces caution, with recruiters noting that confidence and investment decisions will shape hiring momentum into the new year.

Job Market Reports and Trends
UK vacancies have remained broadly flat across recent periods, with early estimates for October to December 2025 showing a modest rise of 10,000 (1.3%) to 734,000 compared with July to September.
Despite this uptick, vacancies were 69,000 (8.6%) lower than a year earlier, falling in 13 of 18 sectors. Labour market tightness eased, with 2.5 unemployed people per vacancy, up from 2.4 last quarter and 1.9 a year ago overall.
